Academic Exchange | Faculty Member from Our Programme Attends the 2025 Annual Conference of the Chinese Association for the History of Journalism in Chongqing

From November 22 to 23, the 2025 Annual Conference of the Chinese Association for the History of Journalism was successfully held at the Chongqing Science Hall. With the theme “Information Revolution · Omnimedia Communication: Journalism and Communication Studies in the Context of Systemic Transformation of Mainstream Media,” the conference brought together leading scholars and professionals from across China’s journalism and communication fields. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on core topics such as disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and technological application amid the systemic transformation of mainstream media, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of China’s journalism and communication sector in the new era.

The conference featured one Editors-in-Chief Forum, two Deans’ Forums, and 23 sub-forums hosted by professional committees, covering a wide range of cutting-edge areas such as international communication and discipline development, innovative talent training models in the era of intelligent media, and systemic reforms in journalism and communication education in China. The discussions were extensive and the exchanges highly substantive.

Dr. Luyang Li, Programme Director of the Communication Studies Concentration of BNBU, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a thematic presentation titled “Marxist View of Journalism in the Practice of External Communication” at the Forum on Journalism with Chinese Characteristics. In her talk, she emphasized that conducting external communication under the guidance of the Marxist view of journalism is a crucial pathway for China to integrate into the global narrative system. Such practice not only enhances China’s international influence and facilitates the global sharing of intellectual achievements, but also provides an important platform for promoting openness in the global marketplace of ideas and fostering international cooperation. Dr. Li elaborated on the necessity of strengthening external communication in the new era and, drawing on the principles of the Marxist view of journalism, offered an in-depth analysis of communication practices and pathways in the process of building a “community with a shared future for mankind.”

Founded in 1989, the Chinese Association for the History of Journalism is the only national first-tier academic organization in the field of journalism and communication in China.
