On March 7, 2026, the award ceremony of the “My News Diary” Photography Competition, organized by the Hong Kong News-Expo, was held at the Hong Kong News-Expo. Students from universities in Hong Kong and mainland China participated in this year’s competition, with a total of 563 participants submitting their works. Two students from Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) stood out among the participants and received Excellence Awards in the University Category.

The “My News Diary” Photography Competition aims to encourage students to document news stories around them through photography, while cultivating their journalistic awareness and visual storytelling skills. This year’s competition attracted students from universities across Hong Kong and mainland China. The submitted works covered a wide range of topics, demonstrating young students’ observations and reflections on social issues and everyday life.
In this year’s competition, works by Li Zimeng and Liu Bowei, students from Beijing Normal–Hong Kong Baptist University, received the Excellence Award in the University Category. With their keen journalistic perspectives and strong visual storytelling abilities, the two students distinguished themselves among numerous submissions.

On the day of the ceremony, award-winning students, guests, and media representatives from universities in Hong Kong and mainland China gathered at the Hong Kong News-Expo to witness the occasion. The two BNBU students received their awards at the ceremony and took commemorative photos with the presenting guests.

Later that afternoon, Mr. Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, delivered a special lecture at the Hong Kong News-Expo. The lecture focused on the 2026 Hong Kong Budget and added further highlights to the day’s events.
The competition not only provided students with a platform to showcase their news photography works, but also further inspired young people to pay attention to society and document the times through journalism.
