In late August 2026, following a vote by the Digital Humanities Programme Development Alliance, the Transdisciplinary Digital Humanities (TDH) Programme at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) was officially admitted to the Alliance, with Dr. Xi XU, Acting Associate Head of the Department of Languages and Cultures, serving as the Alliance's representative council member. This milestone marks significant recognition for BNBU's digital humanities initiative since the programme's establishment in May 2026, and signals the programme's formal entry into the core collaborative network of digital humanities education nationwide.

The Transdisciplinary Digital Humanities Programme is housed in the Department of Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Responding to the national call for language technology empowerment, the programme breaks down disciplinary barriers and integrates resources across literature, history, sinology, classics, linguistics, communication, and digital social sciences to cultivate transdisciplinary talent for the digital age. It equips students with cutting-edge digital skills—including data analysis, artificial intelligence, and multimedia creation—while fostering critical thinking, ethical insight, and cultural sensitivity. The programme is dedicated to training a new generation of professionals capable of using digital technologies responsibly and ethically in research and practice. Its goal is to bridge the gap between technical teams and the communities they serve—a competency that industry leaders increasingly regard as essential.

The programme currently has 10 full-time faculty members, all holding doctoral degrees with overseas study and research experience, including two professors, six associate professors, and two assistant professors. It is also recruiting two new faculty members with expertise in digital humanities research to further strengthen its teaching and research capacity. The Digital Humanities Programme Development Alliance was founded in January 2025 in Beijing by Zhonghua Book Company's Gulian Digital in collaboration with multiple domestic universities, with its secretariat based at Gulian Digital. Its members include institutions offering undergraduate digital humanities programmes, universities with digital humanities research centres, and academic departments engaged in digital talent development. The Alliance is committed to exploring pathways for digital technology to empower humanities research. It regularly hosts annual conferences, academic forums, and a "Future Scholars Forum," publishes annual professional development reports, and operates the China Digital Humanities official website, providing members with an information portal, academic publishing, and course platforms. The programme will leverage this membership to actively engage with the national digital humanities collaborative network, while advancing interdisciplinary talent development and academic research.
