FHSS established cooperative industry and research center with AHA in Hengqin

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) established a cooperative partnership with AHA Hong Kong Macau Youth Incubation Center (AHA) on 27 October 2022. Headed by Prof. Tzeki Hon, Acting Dean of FHSS, members from the FHSS “Branding the Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Greater Bay Area Research Center” attended the contract signing ceremony.

AHA is located in the Guangdong Macau Deeper Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, which borders with Macau. Managed by Mr. David Cheang, one of the representative entrepreneurs from Macau to explore industry diversification opportunities for Macau, AHA offers a platform for young talents from Hong Kong and Macau to test-run their business plans in Guangdong, and an incubation center to connect to the broader business environment.

FHSS and AHA set up an industry-universities-research center cum Guangdong Hong Kong Macau Greater Bay Area Brand Communication Research Center at AHA. This center would provide UIC students with internship and work opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.

David Cheang thanked FHSS for the cooperation as he looked forward to the ideas from teachers and students from UIC to solve practical problems with the business transitions from Macau to Mainland. He believed there would be a lot of “Aha” moments when members from both parties communicate.

Prof. Tzeki Hon believed the many “Aha” moments would broaden the visions of our students and enrich their professional experience. The cooperation would also provide much data for a variety of research projects that our faculty members are conducting.

To Dr. Richard Xu, Associate Professor in PRA, the space and facilities in the center means valuable opportunities for both creative and hands-on experience for students. He revealed that the cooperation started with PRA’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative two years ago, and believed that this cooperation would continue with that end.
